The Huila region is a highly prized source of Colombian coffee, renowned for its consistently high quality and often award-winning green coffee beans. Its signature cup profile is notably delicate, featuring bright acidity, pronounced sweetness, and a fragrant aroma. This distinctive character is attributed to Huila's equatorial location and its abundant, nutrient-rich volcanic soil. The region experiences two annual harvests: a main crop from September to December, and a "mitaca" crop occurring between April and June.
