Santa Ana is one of El Salvador’s premier coffee-growing regions, known for producing high-quality Arabica beans thanks to its fertile volcanic soil and ideal climate. Coffee from this region offers a smooth, well-balanced profile with chocolaty, nutty, and fruity notes, medium acidity, and a rich body. The beans are grown by small producers on mountainous slopes, primarily cultivating the Bourbon and Pacas varieties. Much of the coffee is Strictly High Grown (SHG), meaning it is cultivated above 1,200 meters, where slower bean development enhances flavor complexity. Although higher elevations present production challenges, they result in denser, more flavorful coffee and higher overall quality.
